Visitant on Webflow

Webflow has a built-in place for site-wide scripts, so the whole setup is: paste one line, publish. No cookies, no consent banner, under 2 KB gzipped.

Time: 4 minCode: 1 lineCookies: 0

What you need

  • A Webflow site with an active paid Site plan, or a site inside a paid Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer Workspace. Webflow's help center states custom code is available only in these cases; on the free Starter plan the Head code field does not go live.
  • The Site manager or Designer role on that site.
  • A free Visitant account with your domain added, for example yoursite.com.

Setup in 5 steps

  1. 01 Open Site settings

From the Webflow dashboard hover over the site and click the settings (gear) icon, or open the Designer and choose Site settings from the site menu in the top left. The exact wording may differ in your version.

  2. 02 Go to the Custom code tab

In Site settings click the Custom code tab. You will see two fields: Head code and Footer code. Visitant goes in Head code so it starts counting as soon as the page opens; Webflow's own help notes that scripts placed here should carry async or defer - ours already has defer.

Each field takes up to 50,000 characters. Our line uses fewer than 100, so it fits next to anything you already have there.

  3. 03 Paste the Visitant line

Paste the line below into Head code and replace yoursite.com with your domain. Do not wrap it in extra <head> tags - Webflow already provides them.

    <script defer data-domain="yoursite.com" src="https://annuora.com/v.js"></script>
  4. 04 Save and publish

Click Save changes under the fields (the exact wording may differ), then Publish in the top right and choose your domain. Custom code shows in preview mode too, but it only starts working for real visitors after publishing.

Publishing to yoursite.webflow.io as well? The tracker sends the domain you typed into the tag, so staging visits will be counted under the same site. Publish only to the custom domain, or add the staging address as a second site in Visitant (the Free plan includes 2 sites).

  5. 05 Open the published site and click around

Open your live domain in a normal tab, not the Designer preview, and visit two or three pages. Webflow pages are classic full page loads, so every visit is a normal pageview - no SPA quirks to think about. If you use Webflow's own cookie consent embed, leave it as is: Visitant needs no consent, so nothing has to be wired to it.

Is it working? Check in 60 seconds

Keep the Visitant dashboard open in a second tab. All of this should happen within a minute of publishing.

  • The current visitors counter at the top of the dashboard shows 1 while you are on the site.
  • The install box disappears from the dashboard and the first pageview appears in the Pages table with the path you just visited.
  • Open the site from a link on another page (for example a post on X or LinkedIn) and the Sources table shows that site instead of Direct.
  • View the page source of the live site (Ctrl+U) and search for v.js: the line appears once inside <head>.

Common problems

Head code is saved but nothing appears in the dashboardMost often the site was not published after saving, or it runs on the free Starter plan where custom code does not go live. Publish again and check the plan under Site settings - Plans.
The counter reacts on the home page onlyPage-level custom code overrides nothing, but a page can have its own Head code in Page settings. Check you pasted the line in Site settings (site-wide), not in a single page's settings.
Visits from the Designer preview are being countedThey should not be: the tracker only runs on your published domain. If you see them, you opened the published site, not the preview. To exclude yourself, run localStorage.setItem("visitant_ignore","1") once in the browser console on your site.
Webflow shows a warning about custom codeThat is the standard note that Webflow support does not troubleshoot third-party code. The line is plain HTML; nothing else is required.

Questions

Can I use Visitant on the free Webflow plan?

Not with the Head code field: Webflow limits custom code to sites with a paid Site plan or in a paid Workspace. Visitant itself is free for 5,000 events a month with 2 sites.

Do I still need a cookie banner?

Not because of Visitant. The script sets no cookies and never stores IP addresses, so it needs no consent. If other tools on your site need a banner, keep it - Visitant works regardless of what the visitor clicks.

Can Visitant count AI crawlers on Webflow?

Only the ones that hit the tracker. Webflow hosts your pages, so there is nowhere to run our server snippet. If your domain goes through Cloudflare, the Cloudflare Workers snippet from the dashboard counts every crawler hit, cached pages included.
